Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie

New York-born Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie was a promising tennis player in his youth until a knee injury curtailed his sporting career in its fledgling stages. This landmark moment would compel him to redirect his energies towards music, with his first major success arriving in the 1990s as a founding member of seminal ambient duo Stars of the Lid. Numerous solo and collaborative projects have since followed, with artists as disparate as Sparklehorse and The Flaming Lips, and he currently constitutes one half of A Winged Victory for the Sullen, alongside Dustin O’Halloran.

In recent years, Wiltzie’s attention has turned towards composing for film. He has written the original scores for several movies, most notably Mike Plunkett’s 2015 documentary Salero, and provided additional music for Jóhann Jóhannsson’s score for 2014 box office hit The Theory of Everything. Wiltzie also collaborated with Dustin O’Halloran on two of the main themes for the 2016 film Lion, which helped earn it an Oscar nomination for Best Original Score.
